Professor Daniele Previtali’s Contribution at the Bank of Italy

On January 21, Daniele Previtali participated at the Banca d’Italia – Eurosystem in a roundtable discussion entitled “From Survival to Scaling: Unlocking the Potential of Italian Fintech”, held on the occasion of the presentation of the results of the first 2025 survey on non-supervised operators.
The panel, moderated by Michele Lanotte, Deputy Head of the Retail Payment Instruments and Services Directorate of the Bank of Italy, also featured Alfredo Bruni – Invitalia per le imprese, of the Politecnico di Torino and Maria Teresa Paracampo of the Università degli Studi di Bari Aldo Moro.
The morning session also included contributions from Stefano Siviero, Head of the Payments and Market Infrastructures Department of the Bank of Italy; Costanza Iacomini (FinTech Division – Retail Payment Instruments and Services Directorate); Paola Giucca, Head of the Retail Payment Instruments and Services Directorate; as well as Marco Cito, Head of the Office for the Attraction of Foreign Investments in Italy, and Laura Larducci, Head of Office IV at the Ministero dell’Economia e delle Finanze.
The event provided an important opportunity to discuss the outlook of the Italian #Fintech market and to interpret the survey findings in order to design initiatives aimed at fostering the growth of fintech companies both domestically and internationally.
Among the key insights that emerged was the need to support the creation and development of fintech startups by promoting platforms for dialogue and integration among operators, intermediaries, and regulators.
In this context, the Napoli Fintech Lab—an innovation laboratory of DISAQ (Department of Business and Quantitative Studies)—operates within this perspective by advancing #openinnovation initiatives involving corporations and startups, with the goal of strengthening the fintech ecosystem and culture.
