As the world changes at an unprecedented pace, universities have a key role: transforming challenges into opportunities, ambitions into milestones, and young talents into the brightest minds of the future. Through an innovative and multidisciplinary approach, we are committed to equipping our students not only with essential methodological and applied skills, but also with the critical and analytical mindset needed to face global challenges. At the same time, we invest in cutting-edge research and collaborate with institutions, organizations, and companies in Italy and abroad to foster international exchanges and partnerships—offering our students an integrated vision of their field of study.
We do this because we know that the future is not fixed: it is something we shape every day.
The Department of Business and Quantitative Studies (DISAQ – Dipartimento di Studi Aziendali e Quantitativi) was founded in 2013 with the mission of promoting research in management and quantitative sciences, while fostering the transfer of scientific knowledge through innovative teaching programs for students and outreach activities for the broader community.
Our faculty and researchers come from diverse areas—business management, financial intermediation, economic statistics, and mathematical methods in economics and actuarial sciences. Together, they combine the most innovative strands of management research with advanced statistical–mathematical methodologies.
Our research focuses on studying the impact of scientific and technological innovations on the relationship between firms and markets. For the quality of its research, DISAQ was recognized in 2017 by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR) as a Department of Excellence.
This prestigious recognition was renewed in 2022, placing DISAQ among the top departments in Italy in the field of Economic and Statistical Sciences for the quality of its research and development projects.
Awarded to only 180 departments nationwide every five years, this recognition provides significant funding—supporting new projects for the 2023–2027 period.
Thanks to the quality of its research and strong collaborations with business, financial, institutional, and banking partners, DISAQ has also been selected to work with the world’s leading university, MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in a project involving only nine innovation hubs worldwide.
The transformations shaping today’s economic and social landscape call for a rethinking of existing socio-economic models. For the 2023–2027 period, the Department is strengthening its role as a leading center of research and higher education in entrepreneurship and innovation, always interpreted through the lens of sustainability.
We are expanding into new research areas aligned with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, ensuring our work addresses the most pressing global priorities.
The mission of DISAQ is to act as a key player within a vibrant and growing ecosystem of national and international partners, fully unlocking the potential of its researchers, students, and stakeholders.
We are an ambitious and competitive institution, ready to interpret, anticipate, and meet new academic, entrepreneurial, and social challenges. At the same time, we are modern and inclusive, bringing together diverse perspectives, cultures, backgrounds, and identities in a creative, innovation-driven environment.
Above all, DISAQ thrives on collaboration—not only within its own community but also by engaging with external stakeholders and local networks, fostering an ongoing dialogue with the world around us.
