On February 27, 2026, Villa Doria D’Angri will host a special event dedicated to exploring how the intersection of history, culture, and branding can generate value and strengthen the global positioning of Made in Italy. The morning session will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the presentation of the results of the PRIN research project “Is Old Really Gold?”. Conference “Statistical Models for the Economic Transition: The New Challenge in a Developing World”

It was held at the University of Bari Aldo Moro, the 4th International Conference on Economic Statistics (ICES – SMEA 2026): “Statistical models for the economic transition: The new challenge in a developing world.” The conference was organized by the SMEA group of the Società Italiana di Statistica, coordinated by Professor Rosalia Castellano, in collaboration with the University of Bari. The event saw broad participation from members of the Statistics groups of DISAQ and DISEG. Over the two-day conference, participants engaged in discussions on how Economic Statistics can support research and the analysis of global transformations, ranging from changes in production processes and socio-demographic balances to the effects of climate change. Among the most significant contributions was the keynote lecture delivered by Engin Kara of Cardiff University, focusing on the informational value of consumer price microdata. Another highlight was the plenary session dedicated to the relationship between official statistics and economic statistics, organized as part of the centenary celebrations of the ISTAT. The conference also benefited from the contributions of numerous distinguished representatives from national and local institutions, including Banca d’Italia, Camera di Commercio di Bari, Unioncamere, the Comune di Bari, the Ministero dell’Economia e delle Finanze, Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, and the Istituto Guglielmo Tagliacarne. Their interventions enriched the debate and fostered constructive dialogue between academia and policymakers on the key issues shaping the economic transition.
