INNOVATIVE RESEARCH AREAS

The Department’s research activity is characterized by a focus on innovation and socioeconomic impact. The main research areas are four and they are:

Innovation management

Entrepreneurial and managerial models for the management of innovation, with a focus on strategies, business models, approaches, and managerial practices through which startups and/or established companies seize the opportunities arising from new technologies.

Management of local innovation systems

Entrepreneurial and managerial models for managing local innovation systems (LIS), and analysis of how territorial systems leverage opportunities linked to the development and/or use of new technologies.

Financial tools for innovative enterprises

Study of financial instruments supporting the birth and growth of innovative enterprises, including tools enabling the creation of high-tech companies or the accelerated growth of firms exploiting innovation.

Analysis of the socio-economic impact of innovation

Development of mathematical and statistical models to analyze the socio-economic impact of innovation, along with software tools to measure the influence of technological innovation on the labor market, financial markets, and sustainable development.

RESEARCH AREAS OF THE SCIENTIFIC-DISCIPLINARY SECTORS

Alongside the main research areas, four additional lines of research are pursued, focusing on the specificities of the relevant scientific-disciplinary sectors.

Computational finance

Development of numerical methods, algorithms, and software for computational finance, with particular attention to asset–liability management procedures for insurance companies, exploiting the most recent technologies.

Analysis of complex phenomena

Creation of statistical models for the analysis of complex phenomena such as economic and environmental sustainability, equity in education systems, living and working conditions, energy markets, and the evaluation of support policies.

Management models

Development of management models for financial, credit, and insurance intermediaries, with a focus on the efficiency of credit markets, the relationship between banks and enterprises, and the role of intermediaries in corporate culture.

Cross-cultural management

Con un focus all’internazionalizzazione delle imprese, allo sviluppo dell’innovazione e del turismo, e alla promozione dell’inclusione e della sostenibilità nelle aziende e startup.
