The scientific conference “Management of Oncology Networks in Southern Italy: Strengths, Weaknesses, Threats and Opportunities” was held at Villa Doria d’Angri, focusing on the role of oncology networks and the future development of healthcare in Southern Italy.
Following the institutional opening remarks by Rector Antonio Garofalo, Prof. Francesca Perla, Director of DISAQ, and Dr Alfredo Budillon of the “G. Pascale” National Cancer Institute, the proceedings were coordinated by Prof. Francesco Schiavone of the VIMASS Research Lab.
The discussion explored the strengths and critical issues of oncology networks in Southern Italy, highlighting the main organizational and management challenges, as well as opportunities to make care and treatment pathways more efficient and better integrated.
Among the speakers was Dr Paolo Ascierto, an internationally renowned oncologist, who contributed to the discussion by sharing his experience and perspective on the future of oncology research and care in Southern Italy.
The event provided an opportunity for dialogue among researchers, healthcare professionals, and institutions, with the aim of identifying new perspectives for the development of oncology networks and the improvement of patient care services.
