The Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship and Innovation focuses on all processes related to the creation and development of new businesses, as well as the management of innovation projects within existing companies.
Leveraging the specialized expertise developed by the two participating departments, the program benefits from a close synergy with the Excellence Project of the Department of Business and Quantitative Studies at the University of Parthenope. It also draws on initiatives promoted by the Department of Economics at the University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelli. The program is distinguished by its strong international orientation and close collaboration with businesses.
Target: Italian and international students, as well as employees of partner companies.
Required Qualifications: A specialized/master’s degree, or at least a four-year degree from previous academic systems, or an equivalent academic qualification obtained from foreign universities.
The research topics of the Ph.D. program encompass all major types of entrepreneurship, including tech startups, academic and corporate spin-offs, social and cultural entrepreneurship, as well as startups driven by design skills. In terms of innovation management, the program covers technology-push and demand-pull innovations, innovative business models, organizational models, design-driven innovations, user-led innovations, and “reverse” or “vintage” innovations.
The Ph.D. program’s multidisciplinary approach includes five scientific-disciplinary sectors: the economic-administrative area related to business economics (ECON-06/A), the managerial area linked to business management (ECON-07/A), the financial area and sources of financial support for innovation, related to finance and the economics of financial intermediaries (ECON-09/A and ECON-09/B), and finally, the organizational area typical of business organization (ECON-08/A).
The academic journey combines economic-managerial knowledge with insights into emerging technologies, emphasizing their environmental and societal impact from a sustainability perspective. The Ph.D. program aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of its candidates through the use of the following tools:
