It was held at the University of Bari Aldo Moro<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span>, the 4th International Conference on Economic Statistics (ICES – SMEA 2026): “Statistical models for the economic transition: The new challenge in a developing world.”<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The conference was organized by the SMEA group of the Societ\u00e0 Italiana di Statistica, coordinated by Professor Rosalia Castellano, in collaboration with the University of Bari. The event saw broad participation from members of the Statistics groups of DISAQ and DISEG.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Over the two days of the conference, they debated how the #EconomicStatistics<\/a><\/span> can support research and analysis of global changes, from production processes to socio-demographic balances to the effects of climate change.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Among the most significant contributions was the keynote lecture delivered by Engin Kara of Cardiff University, focusing on the informational value of consumer price microdata. Another highlight was the plenary session dedicated to the relationship between official statistics and economic statistics, organized as part of the centenary celebrations of the ISTAT.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
